My Lord Duke,
Colonel Moody commanding the Troops in British Columbia having made requisition on me for the sum of about Three Thousand Pounds (£3000) to meet various payments in Military AccountManuscript imageAccount, I have the honor to acquaint your Grace that not having the Colonial Funds at my command to meet the requisition, I have been obliged to instruct the Treasurer, to procure the before-mentioned Amount by Bills on Her Majesty's Paymaster General and I trust your Grace will be pleased to obtain the necessary authority from the Lords Commissioners of the Treasury for the Bills presented on this account to be paid when theyManuscript imagethey become due.
