Mr Merivale
1. Now send the proposed despatch to the Governor.
2. Write to Home Office, or the Chief Secy for Ireland, to say the Irish Constabulary will not be needed for B. Columbia.
3. And I should suggest sending the Treasury a copy of the Govrs desph 8576, (with the Duke of Duke of Manuscript imageNewcastle's ansr) as it seems to explain the financial position of the Governor, & His Grace's despatch testifies to the desire of this Office to keep the Governor up to the mark as to economy.
