I am directed by Mr Secretary Herbert to transmit
herewith, a Statement of Stores &c supplied for Service of
the Royal Engineers British Columbia, amounting to £1136.16.11
and I am further to request that you will cause the above sum
to be transferred in the Books of the Paymaster General to the
Credit of this Department.

These are the stores that were lost in the "Briseis" burnt at sea.
Request the Treasury to transfer the amount to the
credit of the War Department, from the Parliamentary Vote
for B. Columbia, and inform the War Department that this is done?

December 1859, advising that the Treasury had been requested
to credit army services with £1136.16.11 for replaced stores.
Draft, Merivale to G.A. Hamilton, Treasury, 30 December 1859,
forwarding account and requesting the requisite sum be credited
to army services and charged to the vote for British Columbia.
Draft, Elliot to Under-Secretary, War Office, 5 April
1860, advising that the paymaster general had been
authorized to pay the sum to the account of army services.
