My Lord Duke,
The Acting Colonial Commissary having made Requisition upon me, as by letter herewith enclosed, for the sum of Two Thousand Five hundred Pounds, being the necessary outlay in the Military branch Manuscript image branch of that Department for the 1st quarter of the present year, I have the honor to acquaint your Grace that not having funds in the Colonial Chest to meet this demand, I have instructed the Treasurer to procure the above named sum, by Bills on Her Majesty's Paymaster General, and I trust your Grace will be pleased to obtain the necessary authority from the Lords Commissioners of Manuscript image of the Treasury, for the Bills presented on this account to be paid when they become due.
