My Lord Duke,
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your Grace's despatch No. 7 of the 3rd February, transmitting copy of correspondence between the Colonial Department and the War Office, with reference to an application from Captain Lempriere R.E. to be allowed the Manuscript image the same rate of Colonial pay as is granted to other officers of his rank in British Columbia, and I beg to inform your Grace that in accordance with your instructions, I have communicated your despatch to Colonel Moody and directed that Captain Lempriere should receive the same rate of Colonial pay as other officers of his present rank, from the date of his promotion, viz 20th June 1859 until the Manuscript image the date of his recall reaching the Colony.
