Sir,
With reference to Mr Elliot's letter of the 2nd Instant, enclosing copies of despatches from the Governor of British Columbia relative to the new Assay Office in that Colony, I am directed by the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury to transmit herewith, for the information of the Duke of Newcastle, Copy of a letter from the Master of the Mint on the subject.
