Douglas writes to Newcastle to acknowledge Rogers's earlier despatch, and copied Treasury letter, which reported that “coin for the
use of British Columbia” had been shipped to Vancouver Island on the Tartar.

I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of Sir F.
Rogers' dispatch No. 58 of the 30th October last with
copy of a letter from the Treasury, acquainting mewith
with
the steps that had been taken relative to sending out a
supply of coin for the use of British Columbia, and that the same had been shipped on board Her Majesty's Ship
"Tartar" which vessel sailed from Portsmouth on the 27th
October last, for Vancouvers Island.
