I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of Mr Fortescue's despatch No 56 of the 26th October last permitting me under certain circumstances to afford temporary pecuniary assistancetoManuscript image to Ministers of Religion in British Columbia and illustrating the mode in which I should guard myself if it should appear necessary to avail myself of that permission, and I beg to return my most sincere thanks for the kind manner in which my suggestions on this subject have been received, and for the power that is now given me to act should it appeardesirableManuscript image desirable.
