Hamilton writes to Rogers to report that the “Paymaster General” has been authorized to pay “Naval Services”
£25.19.6 for Douglas's “entertainment” aboard the Satellite from July through September, 1859.
The minutes ask to notify the Admiralty of the payment for Douglas's entertainment.
The file includes a draft letter from Elliot to the Admiralty, which advises of the Paymaster General's authorization to pay for
Douglas's time aboard the Satellite.
In reply to Mr Elliot's Letter of the 2nd Instant,
I am commanded by the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's
Treasury to acquaint you that the Paymaster General has been
authorized to pay to Naval Services the sum of £25.19.6 for
the entertainment on board the "Satellite" of the Governor of
British Columbia during the Months of July, August & Sepr 1859.
