In reply to Mr Elliot's Letter of the 30th Ulto, I am commanded by the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury to acquaint you that the Paymaster General has been authorized to pay to the credit of Naval Services the sum of £35.7.0 in repayment of the Expenses incurred by the Admiralty on the occasion of the entertainment of the Bishop of British Columbia on board the Gun Boat "Grappler" in October last.

In all these cases, it should be a Standing Rule to inform the Admiralty. Otherwise they are apt to renew the Claim, and [scant?] becomes necessary, & trouble is incurred. Draft to Admiralty.
