Newcastle writes to Douglas to acknowledge with satisfaction and interest Douglas's earlier accounts of his journeys through British Columbia, and to note the receipt a report by Forbes's “Exploring Party.”

I have to acknowledge the receipt of your despatches marked Separate of
the 9th and the 25th of October last giving an account of your
recent journey through B. Columbia.
I have also received your Despatch No. 95 of the 9thof

enclosing a Report by Dr Forbes of H.M. Ship "Topaze" of the
proceedings of the Exploring Party under his charge.

I have perused these Reports with much satisfaction as containing
interesting information on the advance the Colony has made, and as
