HMS topazeTopaze, 1858-1884
The HMS topazeTopaze was a 72 m long British steam frigate.1 According to various despatches, the topazeTopaze was a gunboat, but served also as a survey vessel. According this document, from October 1859, the topazeTopaze was ordered to the Pacific Station at Valparaiso, along with the clioClio.
In this despatch, the topazeTopaze was ordered to join British naval forces on the North West Coast of America. The topazeTopaze appears to have remained in service at Esquimalt Harbour in several capacities, until at least November 1866.
