I have to acknowledge the receipt of your despatch No. 98 dated the 29th of November last enclosing a list of Articles required for the Assay Office in British Columbia which the Colonial Treasurer requests may be procured and sent out from this Country.

I have instructed the Colonial Agents to comply with this Requisition, with the exception of the supply of Coke, at the estimated cost specified in the letter of which I enclose a copy.
In the present instance I have requested the Lords Commissioners of the Treasury to defray the cost of these Articles, as an advance to be repaid from Colonial funds, but on all future occasions on which it may be desirable to obtain stores for the service of your Government fromthisManuscript image this country, you will remit to the Agents General the funds requisite for meeting the expenditure, unless you should have previously sent to them, which would be preferable, some general remittance sufficient to meet all current demands of this kind.
