Abstract
Despatch from London.
Newcastle writes to Douglas to note the receipt of and express satisfaction with Douglas's earlier despatch, which offered an answer to Moody's grievances towards Douglas [which can be found enclosed with this despatch] on the town-site selection on the Similkameen River, and the pay and maintenance of the Royal Engineers.

I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your despatch No. 10 of the 28th of January and to state that I am quite satisfied with the explanation which it affords on the subject of the letters addressed to you by Colonel Moody on the 24th and 22nd of August last, the first relating to the selection of the site for a town on the Semilkomeen River; the second respectingtheManuscript image the provision made in the Estimates of 1860-61 for the Royal Engineers.
