In reply to your letter of the 
10th Inst. I am directed
               by the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury to acquaint
               you that Their Lordships agree with the view taken by the 
Duke of
                  Newcastle that the coin, to the value of £6900, which was sent
               out to 
British Columbia in 
1860 cannot be considered as a grant to
               the Colony in addition to the sums voted by Parliament.
               
               Instructions will be given for
the
 the repayment of that charge out
               of the Parliamentary Grant for the Colony as signified in the
               Treasury letter of 
25th October 1860.
