With reference to my recent despatch No. 100 of the 31st of May, sanctioning the appropriation which you had made of £2500 from the Revenue of British Columbia towards securing a direct postal communication with San Francisco, I have the honor to remind you, at the request of the LordsCommissionersManuscript image Commissioners of the Treasury, that it will be necessary for you to curtail accordingly your projected expenditure on public works, so as to enable the public funds to meet this additional charge.
