I have the honor to transmit to you herewith, for your
information, a copy of a correspondence between Mr. Nind and this
Department, respecting an extension of his leave of absence, and the
issue of his salary whilst in this Country.

Copy, Fortescue to Nind, 1 August 1862, to report Newcastle's approval for Nind's leave-salary to be set at its recently increased rate, and to deny Nind an "extra allowance of £100," which he would have to be in British Columbia to receive.
