No. 151
28 November 1862
I have the honor to forward to you a copy of a Memorial from Mrs. Sophia Elizabeth Cox, stating that her husband Mr. William G. Cox has emigrated to British Columbia leaving her without the necessary means of subsistence.
As I perceive fromtheManuscript image the Blue Book of the Colony that Mr. Cox is Stipendiary Magistrate at Rock Creek, I have to instruct you to communicate with him, and unless he is able to refute the truth of this representation to inform him that he must either provide for his Wife out of his salary (which you will cause to be doneinManuscript image in an efficient manner, and so as to prevent evasion) or else he must immediately be removed from his appointment.
I have the honor to be
Sir
Your obedient Servant
