I have the honor to transmit to you a copy of a letter, with its enclosure, from the War Office relative to the employment of Corporal W. Hale, now serving under Colonel Moody, in completing the inscription on the granite Obelisk which marks the western terminusManuscript image of the British North American Boundary.
I have to request that you will take the necessary steps for giving effect to the wishes of the Secretary of State for War on this subject.
