Copy to Crown Agents—with instructions to comply with the requisition.
ABd 30 May
I would be obliged if some one in the Division would be good enough to look to the last periodical report of the Agents' overdrawn accounts and see how they stand as to B. Columbia. If the account is overdrawn I should like toManuscript image see any caution which we may have addressed to the Governor on the subject.
TFE 30 May
Authorize the Agents to comply with the Requisition. Instruct them, however, to furnish a statement of any amount at present due to them from the Govt of B. Columbia.
When they answer, we can tell the Governer, & give him some instructions about repayment.
Draft to Agents may be prepared.

In the statement received from the Agents dated the 30th of April the British Columbia account is said to be overdrawn to the extent of £48.11.6 but there is a note to the effect that this overdraught will be adjusted from the sale of the necessary "amount of Stock." I asked Mr Sargeaunt who was here this morning for an explanation which he gave but which I did not quite understand. He says however that the Colony has now become indebted to the Agents to upwards of £1000.
Perhaps the Governor looks to the liquidation of the expenses incurred for the Mint [articles?] out of the loan just recommended.
