I have to acquaint you that the Lieutenant Government of St. Vincent vacant by the appointment of Lieutt Governor Musgrave to the Government of Newfoundland has been offered to Mr. Berkeley theColonialManuscript image Colonial Secretary of Honduras. In the event of Mr. Berkeley's acceptance of the Lieutenant Government of St. Vincent the Office of Colonial Secretary of Honduras will become vacant, and I authorize you to offer it to Captain Holmes, your Private Secretary and Aide-de-Camp.
I place this appointment at the disposal of Captain Holmes in consequence of the testimony borne by you on previous occasions to his merits and qualifications.
I enclose for yourinformationManuscript image information and for that of Captain Holmes the copy of a letter from Mr. Holmes written on behalf of his son.
