I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of Sir James Douglas's despatch No. 1 of the 9th of January, and to inform you that I have laid before The Queen the Proclamation, forwarded in his previous despatch of the 20th of August last, entitled No. 59—"The Cooks Ferry and Clinton RoadBondManuscript image Bond Act 1863;" and that Her Majesty has been pleased to confirm and allow it.
You will communicate Her Majesty's decision to the inhabitants of British Columbia in the usual and most authentic manner.
