15th February 1865
Sir,
The dealings of the Government of this Colony with the Bank of British Columbia are very considerable and it is not unlikely that we may find it expedient to increase them. I think however that it is desirablebeforeManuscript image before doing so that I should know the nature of the Charter granted to the Company. Perhaps you would be good enough to direct me to be furnished with a copy of the Original and Supplementary Charters.
2. I think very highly of the Bank but I cannot but be aware that its enormous issues of paper are fast driving coin out of circulation.
I have the honor to be,
Sir,
Your most obedient humble Servant
Frederick Seymour

It appears that there was some correspce with the Treasury as regards both the original & Supplementary Charters—drafts of which were sent here by the Treasy & concurred in by the Colonial Dt subject to certain alterations. But no copies of the Charters as passed appear to have been sent here for record, or information. I therefore annex a dft to Treasury to ask for copies for transmission to the Governor.
