I have the honor to forward Copy of an interesting and highly
satisfactory letter received from
Mr John Ogilvy, the Constable
and Collector of Customs at
Bella Coola,
North Bentinck Arm.
Mr
Mr Ogilvy held the second Command in
Mr Cox's Volunteer
force after
Mr McLean was shot by the Indians, and was
appointed to his present post by myself.
2. It is gratifying to see how well placed has been the
mercy which
Mr Brew extended to
Anaheim, the Chief of the
Western Branch of the Chilicoten tribe and how sore pressed
are the murderers still at large.
