I have the honor to forward an Authenticated and two
plain Copies of an Ordinance of the recent Session of the
               Legislature of this Colony, entitled;

               No. 14. An Ordinance
to
to amend and consolidate, the Gold Mining laws.

I add the Report of the Attorney General.

               2. This Ordinance had its origin in a conversation
               between the Mining Board of
Cariboo and myself on
William's
Creek. In the Winter the Mining Board had many consultations
with me on the subject. Its many details have been carefully
considered by those most competent to the task. The enclosed
               Ordinance is
the
the result. I entrusted its introduction in
               the Council to
Mr Walkem, a barrister selected by the
               people of
Cariboo East for appointment to the Council. The
Bill occupied more time and required more attention than any
               other measure of the Session.
