In compliance with the request contained in the last
paragraph of your letter of the
16th instant, I beg
to inform you that the Crown Agents are of opinion that the
most desirable Colonial Securities in which the
British
Columbia Sinking Funds could at present be invested are
               those in
Ceylon,
Mauritius,
New South Wales,
Victoria and
               the
Cape of Good Hope, and they think it would be well
to
 to
leave it to the Trustees to select half-yearly such one or
more of these Stocks as should appear to them at the time
being to be the most desirable to purchase, having regard
to the price, and to the prospects of the several Colonies named.
