My Lord,
I have had the honor to receive your despatch No. 2
Attached to this despatch.
of the
28th July, forwarding a Volume containing a collection of the
principal speeches and addresses of His Royal Highness the Prince
Consort, which Her Majesty
has has been graciously pleased to present
to the
New Westminster Public Library.
2. I have now the honor to forward an Address from the Library
Committee in acknowledgement of this valuable gift.
3. The Public Library of
New Westminster has been little more
than a year in existence. I have personally taken much interest
in its formation as President of the Committee of Management during
my Administration of the Government.
The The progress of the
Institution is most satisfactory, and we have now some eight
hundred Volumes, in addition to all the leading Periodicals and
Newspapers of the day. The Library is well attended by all classes
of the community.
A Museum is also attached and is daily increasing in value
and importance.
