I have had the honor to receive Your Lordship's Confidential
despatch of
1st of January respecting a complaint from the late
Governor of
Vancouver Island in regard to a certain
demonstration demonstration
made by the United States Council at
Victoria on the
4th of July.
2. I am not in possession of the despatch from
Governor
Kennedy to which Your Lordship alludes, but I have not found it
necessary in any way to complain of the American Authorities
since I have been in communication with them on this Coast.
