With reference to Mr Elliot's letter of the 27th April enclosing a copy of a Letter from the United States General Halleck to the Senior British Naval Officer on the subject of a Deserter from the Detachment of Royal Marines at San Juan, serving in the American Camp on that Island as a Soldier, I am commanded by my Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty to send you herewith for the information of His Grace The Duke of Buckingham and Chandos copies of two LettersdatedManuscript image dated 11 Jany and 1st Feb 1867, addressed by the said Senior British Naval Officer (Captain Oldfield) to Major General Halleck, and bringing the correspondence to a satisfactory conclusion.
