Sargeaunt to Rogers (Permanent Under-Secretary)
Offices of the Crown Agents for the Colonies,
Spring Gardens, London, S.W.
4th September 1867
Sir,
The requisition referred to in the enclosed copy of a letter from the Colonial Secretary of British Columbia, as having been made by the Government of Vancouver Island in the year 1865 and only partially complied with was not forwarded to this Office. As "the remainder of the Stores" are stated to be pressingly required and delay may occasion not only inconvenience but risk to the Shipping resorting to that Island, the Crown Agents would be glad to be informed whether anysuchManuscript image such requisition is on record at the Colonial Office, if not, then there will be no alternative but to write to British Columbia for further information as to the Stores still required.
I have the honor to be,
Sir,
Your most obedient Servant,
W.C. Sargeaunt

Mr Elliot
The Crown Agents as well as the Governor should I think have been specially told in 1865 that the Bd of Trade desired to continue to supply stores for the Lighthouses at Vancouver's Is.
The requisition to which this letter refers although addressed by the Coll Secy to the Crown Agents was in accordance with their Lordships desire sent to the Bd of Trade, & the Agents have apparently never known of its existence.
Write toManuscript image Board of Trade & ask whether & if so at what date the requisition was complied with & when the answer is received inform the Crown Agents & the Governor how the matter stands.

& take care that the Agents are now (& the Governor if not done already, which I do not quite understand) informed, as Mr Robinson justly suggests, of the desire of the Bd of Trade to continue to make such supplies personally. Draft at once.
