Referring to my letter, Number 2, of the 3rd August, the receipt of which was acknowledged in Your despatch dated the 21st of August last, I have now the honor to request that you will acquaint me with the decision of His Grace the Secretary of State for the Colonies in respect of my application of that date.
I have also to request that You will bring to the notice of Her Majesty's GovernmenttheManuscript image the circumstances of my having been exposed to an amount of anxiety and pecuniary loss, through the operation of the Act of Union, which, in common justice and in accordance with the regulations and practice of Her Majesty's Service, I should have been spared.
