With reference to your despatch No. 16 of the 8th January, I have the honor to transmit to you, for your information and guidance, a copy of a letter from the War Office authorising the payment of a gratuity of £20, undercertainManuscript image certain conditions, to William Bowden as a settler in the Colony under your Government.
Upon your forwarding to this Country Bowden's receipt accompanied by the required Medical Certificate, the War Office will be requested to repay the amount to the Crown Agents to the credit of British Columbia.
