No. 21
Downing Street
2 May 1867
Sir,
I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your Despatch No. 33 of the 19th of February forwarding a Petition from certain Indian Chiefs in British Columbia.
It is gratifying to find that the Chiefs of so many Indian villages have recourse in British Columbia to this temperate means of making their wishesManuscript image known to the Head of the Government. I have perused their Address with satisfaction, and hope that the answer which you have returned will tend to their contentment.
I have the honor to be
Sir,
Your most obedient servant
Buckingham & Chandos
