No. 69
12 October 1867
Sir,
I have received from the Crown Agents a copy of a letter dated the 9th July 1867, from the then Colonial Secretary of British Columbia stating that a requisition for Lighthouse Stores for Vancouvers Island made in April 1865, has only been "partially fulfilled" and that the remainderofManuscript image of the Stores are pressingly required."
I have been in communication with the Board of Trade, who desire to continue the supply of Light-house Stores and on whom future requisitions should be made, upon the subject and they have informed me that 500 Gallons of Oil and the Stores included in the requisition of 1865 were forwarded to the Governor of Vancouvers Island in the "Severn" in August of that year and that their Lordships are not aware that any portion of the requisition in question was not complied with.
Under these circumstancesIManuscript image I am obliged to refer the matter to you for further information as the Colonial Secretary did not specify in his letter, as he should have done, what stores were missing.
I have the honor to be
Sir,
Your most obedient
humble Servant
Buckingham & Chandos
