I have the honor to forward copy of a letter which I have just received from Mr Wm Duncan, Magistrate and Missionary at Metlakahtla in this Colony.

2. Rear Admiral Hastings is happily now on the Northern Coast in Her Majesty's Ship "Sparrowhawk" and will I have no doubt furnish assistance to Mr Duncan.
3. It is my intention to visit Queen Charlotte's Island shortly and I shall call at Metlakahtla.

Most lamentable—I wd send this to Admy—saying that H.G. considered it a matter of great moment that this infant settlement of native Christians shd not be allowed to [be] destroyed, & that he wd be glad to receive any intelligence that their Lps may receive on the subject from Adml Hastings.
