My Lord Duke,
I have had the honor to receive Your Grace's despatch No. 29 of the 21st May, pointing out that I had not given advice of the sum offifteenManuscript image fifteen hundred pounds having been drawn on the Paymaster General for the Maintenance of the Royal Marines stationed on San Juan Island.
2. I must attribute this omission more to Postal irregularities than to negligence on my part as I observe that my despatch No. 19 of the 18th March, gave Your Grace notice that I had authorizedtheManuscript image the drawing for the amount mentioned.
