Sir,
I have laid before Lord Stanley your letter of the 23rd Instant, forwarding a copy of a letter from the Hudsons Bay Company as to the rights of British vessels with regard to the navigation of the rivers in the territory recently ceded by Russia to the United States, and I am directed by His Lordship to request that you will refer The Duke of Buckingham to The Queen AdvocatesReportManuscript image Report of December 26th last, of which a copy was inclosed in my letter of the 30th of the same month, and in which His Grace will find an answer to the question raised by the Hudson's Bay Company.

The F.O. refers us to the Queen's Advocate's opinion, which I take to be adverse to the Hudson's Bay Company.
? Write to Lord Kimberley & inform him that HG has been advised that the US are bound &c, embodying the opinion of the Queens Advocate & that under theseManuscript image circumstances HG is unable to comply with His Lordship's request. Lord Kimberley may perhaps appeal to the F.O.
