Sir,
I am directed by the Board of Trade to acknowledge the receipt
of your letter of the
18th instant inclosing copy of a Dispatch
from the Governor of
British Columbia inclosing
a copy of a letter from the Officer acting as Chairman of the
Pilot Board and Harbour Master in that Colony applying for
printed Forms of Examination of Masters
and and Mates together with
such Books as are used for that purpose.
In reply I am to transmit to you for the information of the
Duke
of Buckingham and Chandos & for transmission to the Governor of
British Columbia the accompanying copies of the notice of
"Examination of Masters and Mates &c," together with a complete
set of Examination papers.
I am to add that the Books used at the Examination Rooms are
"Rapers" and "Nories"
Epitome Epitome and Nautical Almanack and Tide
Tables, which can be obtained at any bookseller, and always at
Mess
