Sir,
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your Despatch No. 88 of the 15th July last, enclosing a letter from Mr. Needham pointing out the difference which has occurred in his position owing to the union of the Colonies, and applying for an increase tohisManuscript image his salary.
I have to request you to inform Mr. Needham that I have received his letter but that I am sorry I am unable to accede to his request.
