I transmit to you for your information copies of two letters from
the Crown Agents, the first submitting a statement shewing the
liabilities of your Government on account of the
British Columbia and
Vancouvers Island's loans both as regards interest and sinking fund;
the the
second reporting the receipt of a remittance of £3000 from your
Government.
The Crown Agents have been instructed in a letter of which a copy
is enclosed, to pay out of this amount and out of the funds belonging
to the Colony which are already in their hands the interest falling due
on the 1st January, and I have to request that you will take measures to
provide for meeting all charges on account of Sinking Funds which are
now in arrear and such others as may hereafter become due.
The
The result of the present payment on account of interest will be
that the account will be overdrawn by £100.
