My Lord,
I have received with considerable regret Your Lordship's despatch No. 9 of the 3rd of February informing me that RearAdmiralManuscript image Admiral The Honorable G.F. Hastings Admiral The Honorable G.F. Hastings had been directed to make Valparaiso his future Head Quarters as Naval Commander in Chief in the Pacific.
2. In parting, for the present, with Admiral Hastings I feel it my duty to convey to Her Majesty's Government an expression of the gratitude I entertain for the Services he hasrenderedManuscript image rendered to the Colony and for the consideration he has been good enough to give to every wish of mine.
