My Lord,
I have the honor to report that I have this day appointed Mr Charles Good, to be Acting Colonial Secretary, pending instructions from HerMajesty'sManuscript image Majestys Government.
2. Mr Good has served in the Colonial Secretary's Office for ten years, during the last two of which he has been Assistant Colonial Secretary.
3. I consider Mr Good a clever, energetic officer, and a Gentleman in whom I can place implicit confidence, and I therefore trust Your Lordship will approve of my having conferred uponhimManuscript image him the acting vacancy.
4. I enclose copy of Mr Good's application and of my reply.
