With reference to the despatches noted in the margin,

I have the honor to transmit copy of a letter which I have received from Mr J.W. Trutch, Chief CommissionerofManuscript image of Lands and Works.
2. I am informed by Governor Seymour's Private Secretary that he is fully aware it was the intention of the late Governor, immediately on his return from Metlakahtla to notify to Your Lordship that any reasons which might have existed to prevent Mr Trutch from continuing to hold the appointment of Chief Commissioner of LandsandManuscript image and Works were removed.
3. I am in a position to acquaint Your Lordship that Mr Trutch has proved to my entire satisfaction, by the production of the necessary legal documents, that he has divested himself, since the 5th January 1869 of all pecuniary interest or connection whatsoever in the Tolls of the Alexandra Bridge.

It would have been better to have left this to the new Governor—but as it is stated that Mr Trutch has divested himself of the property in question I suppose his appt may be confirmed.
