I am commanded by my Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty to transmit for the information of Earl Granville copies of correspondence forwarded by Rear Admiral Honble G.F. Hastings, in his letter of 29 June No 110, relative to the investigation which had taken place in conjunction with the Commanding officer of H.M. Ship Sparrowhawk into certain outrages alleged to have been committed by the Indians on the Crew oftheManuscript image the Barque "John Bright" wrecked in the vicinity of Nootka Sound, North Pacific.
