Sir,
I am commanded by my Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty to transmit for the information of Earl Granville extracts from a Letter of Rear Admiral Honble G.F. Hastings, dated Callao 27 July, reporting the death of His Excellency Governor Seymour on board H.M.S. Sparrowhawk, during the passage to the Northern Settlements of British Columbia.
2. The Real Admiral also mentions that someexcitementManuscript image excitement prevailed in the Colony, owing to the threats of a Fenian Invasion, uttered at a public meeting by Mr George Train, to which however H.M. Consul at San Francisco attached little importance.
