With reference to your letter of the
3rd of April last,
enclosing a copy of a despatch from the Governor of
British
Columbia, I beg leave to state, for the information of
Earl
Granville, that I have caused to be prepared a statement
shewing, on one hand, the amounts paid by this Department for
conveyance of mails to and from
British Columbia during the year
1868, and, on the other hand, the amounts paid by the Colonial
Government.
The Balance shewn by the statement in question to be due to the
Colonial Government is £536.12.11; and I have caused that amount
to be paid to the credit of the Colony with the Crown Agents for
the Colonies.
