I am directed by Mr Secretary Cardwell to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 22d Ultimo with enclosures from the Governor of British Columbia giving cover to an Ordinance, No 15 of 1869, entitled "an Ordinance to establish a Volunteer Force" in that Colony.
In reply I am to request that you will acquaint Earl Granville that Mr Cardwell sees no objection inprincipleManuscript image principle to this Ordinance.
