Sir,
I transmit to you with reference to my Despatch of the 8th May, No. 31, a copy of a letter from the Crown Agents dated the 10th Ultimo, reporting that remittances had been received from British Columbia, sufficient to meet the interest on their Loans falling due on the 1st and 13thofManuscript image of this month, but that a sum of £5175 was still due for contribution to the Sinking Fund, which will be increased by a further sum of £4050 on the 15th of this month.
The Despatch which I addressed to the late Governor on the 13th April, No. 23, has so clearly pointed out the necessity of punctual remittances being made for the payment of Interest and Sinking Fund and the serious consequences to the Colony if they are not made, that I need only callyourManuscript image your attention to it.
