I referred to the Crown Agents, for any observations which they
might have to offer,
Mr. Hankin's Despatch No. 13, of the
21st of June
reporting the steps which have been taken by the Colonial Government
during the first half of the present Year
to to meet the liabilities of the
Colony in this Country on account of the interest and Sinking fund of
the
British Columbia and
Vancouver loans.
I now transmit to you a copy of the report which they have
addressed to me on the subject which will show you that the remittances
contemplated by
Mr. Hankin will not be sufficient to meet the liabilities
of the government of
British Columbia as they fall due.
You will also see from the concluding paragraph
of of their letter the
times at which remittances ought to be made on this account.
