I beg to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 20th Instant, accompanying a Copy of a Despatch with its enclosure from the Governor of Vancouvers Island to Earl Grey, and stating that his Lordship proposes to confirm the appointment of Mr Helmken as Magistrate for Fort Rupert and the adjacent district, for which communications I have to request that you will convey my best thanks to Earl Grey.
